- AEO (answer engine optimization)Shaping content so that answer systems use it as the direct, short answer to a clearly asked question.
- Agentic AIAI systems that are given a goal, plan the steps themselves, use tools and finish by doing something rather than just answering.
- AI agentSoftware that uses a language model to pursue a goal, plans the steps itself, uses tools and feeds each result into the next step.
- AI assistantA program built on a language model that understands instructions in plain language and prepares office work such as emails, minutes and analyses.
- AI crawlerPrograms AI providers use to fetch web pages, split into training, search indexing and fetches a user triggers in a chat.
- AI disclosure obligation (Article 50)Transparency duties in Article 50 of the EU AI Act: an AI notice in chatbots, disclosure of deepfakes and machine-readable marking.
- AI governanceThe rules, roles and technical safeguards a company uses to steer its use of AI and to prove that it does so responsibly.
- AI hallucinationA claim an AI makes up and still phrases as convincingly as if it were backed by a source.

- AIO (AI optimization)An ambiguous acronym: either an umbrella term for optimizing for AI systems or short for Google's AI Overviews.
- AI OverviewsAI-generated summaries that Google shows above the classic search results, with links to the websites they draw on.
- AI searchSearch features that return a written AI answer with links to websites instead of only a list of results.
- AI visibilityWhether, how often, where and how accurately AI systems such as ChatGPT, Gemini or Perplexity mention your brand in their answers.
- AI visibility trackerTools that keep asking AI systems a fixed set of questions and track whether and how a brand is mentioned in the answers.

- GEO (generative engine optimization)Work on content so that generative search systems such as ChatGPT, Perplexity or Google's AI answers cite your brand as a source.
- Google-ExtendedA robots.txt token that controls whether Google may use your content for Gemini. It has no effect on Google Search.
- Google indexingThe inclusion of a page in Google's search index. Only indexed pages appear in Search and in Google's AI answers.
- GPTBotOpenAI's crawler that collects content for training its foundation models. You can block it on its own in robots.txt.

- LLM (large language model)A large language model that understands and writes text but only knows what was in its training data.
- LLMO (large language model optimization)Work on content so that large language models understand it, reuse it and describe your company correctly in chat.
- llms.txtA Markdown file in a website's root that briefly tells language models what the site is about and links its most important pages.
- Local AIRunning AI so that data and system stay in house, either with the model on your own hardware or with a model called from the cloud.
- Logging obligation (AI Act)Duty under Articles 12, 19 and 26 of the EU AI Act: high-risk AI logs events automatically, and logs are kept for at least six months.

- SaaS (software as a service)Software that customers use as an ongoing service in the browser instead of installing it, with operation, updates and billing by the provider.
- Shopware 5 pluginAn extension for Shopware 5, whose development ended in late July 2024; it does not run on Shopware 6 and has to be replaced or rebuilt.
- Shopware Admin API (sync endpoint)The Shopware 6 interface with read and write access to every entity; its sync endpoint changes many records in a single request.
- Structured dataStandardised information in a page's code that tells search engines explicitly what the content is, usually based on schema.org.

- Vector databaseA database that stores text chunks as strings of numbers and, for a given question, finds the chunks closest in meaning.
- Visibility indexA single score that summarises how present a domain is in Google's organic search results.
- Voicebot (AI voice agent)An AI system that answers calls, understands free speech, replies with a synthetic voice and hands over to a person when needed.
