Passau location

Passau businesses have AI know-how on their doorstep; the training brings it to the workplace

The city of three rivers had 53,523 inhabitants on 31 Dec 2025 (Bavarian State Office for Statistics). Its largest industrial employer is ZF, with around 4,000 employees in Grubweg and Patriching, followed by the IT consultancy msg systems with more than 600 staff at its Passau branch and the publishing group Verlagsgruppe Passau. The city describes itself as a hub in the tri-border region of Bavaria, the Czech Republic and Austria.

The University of Passau had 10,123 students in the 2026 summer semester and offers a bachelor's program in Artificial Intelligence. The INN.KUBATOR is a contact point for digitalization and startups, and IHK Niederbayern advises on getting started with AI at its Passau office. On 15 October 2026 we will present our marketing AI there at the evening event "Innovation.einfach.erklärt".

Anyone in Passau serving customers across the border writes a lot twice: once in German, once in English or Czech. Such translations and draft replies are among the first exercises.

Do our employees have to take AI training?

If your business uses AI, Article 4 of the AI Act has required measures for the AI literacy of staff since 2 February 2025. The law does not prescribe a specific format; training with a record serves the purpose and can be documented. More detail in the article AI training obligation under Article 4.

Does the training build on the IHK's AI advice in Passau?

It builds on it. IHK Niederbayern offers introductory AI consultations, including at its Passau office. Our training follows on inside the business, with a system the team works on itself.

Will you come out to the Passau district?
